Ireneusz Radkiewicz was born in 1950 in Tarczyn. Since childhood he has shown interest in photography and sport. After finishing elementary school in Tarczyn, he attended a technical school in Warsaw. During this period, he began to work in artistic photography group called Stodoła, under direction of well-known artist, photographer Zbigniew Wojewódzki. These years of activity resulted in admission to the student photographic agency of University of Warsaw, from where, after several years and completed the internship, he was admitted in 1971 to the Central Photographic Agency. He has many titles in his creative output, including the silver medal in the World Competition of Press Photography Interpressfoto 72, first award in National Competition of Press Photography of the Association of Polish Journalists, Honorary Diploma of the Union of Polish Photographers and several prices of the CAF photojournalist. He had many individual exhibitions. From the beginning of Lech Wałęsa presidency, he was his photographer. Radkiewicz met the former president during his stay in Arłamów, where he made a photojournalism just before he left the internment. The entire world went round the picture where Lech Wałęsa was seen lugging two suitcases on the day he left the place of exile.
